Cabhair 2007 Annual Liffey Swim
A crowd of over 100 made their way to the Grand Canal in Inchicore, Dublin Christmas morning to support the 31st Annual Christmas Cabhair Swim. This is an annual charitable swim in, which sponsored swimmers give up their holiday morning in order to raise funds for the dependants of Irish Republican political prisoners.
The onlookers cheered as each of the seven swimmers dived into the frigid waters of the lovely Liffey River. The organizers provided soft drinks and snacks to those who attended and a roaring fire to warm up the swimmers. There was also music and a raffle. All in all it was a great day for a great cause! The event was a huge success and much credit must go to organizer John Horan of Cabhair, in Ireland.
Credit must also go to Kat the U.S. promoter from the IRBB Bulletin Board. This is the second year in which sponsors and supporters in the U.S. took part in the event. This year Kat made available one of a kind hand made ornaments for everyone who contributed $100 or more. These beautiful pieces are individually handmade works of art, featuring an Irish harp modeled after the Cabhair Harp on front and recognition of sponsorship for the 2007 Cabhair Swim on reverse. Needless to say, no ornaments are left because of the success of the all the efforts made promoting the Cabhair Swim.
The National Irish Freedom Committee would like to extend a hand to Kat and all those who pitched in to support this most worthy cause. Well done and thank you!
