The Pipe -- a virtual sellout!
Over the years the
Irish people have had very good reasons to give a
wide berth to the word ‘sellout’. It carried the
extremely unpleasant message of betrayal.
However on Monday evening, March 26th , the word
‘sellout’ was thrown around with great glee by
people who were lining up outside the IFC center in
Lower Manhattan where The Pipe, a film about
Shelltosea campaign in Co Mayo was making its’ debut
in New York.
Many of those who were loudly proclaiming a sellout
were in fact unable to get into see the film because
it was --sold out.
People were lining up outside the IFC Center hoping
for no shows and when that did materialize they
comforted themselves with the knowledge that The
Pipe is returning to the Big Apple on May 12th.
Irish Republicans who were present handed out a
flyer stating that ‘the solution to Shell and
corruption in Ireland was a federal Ireland, based
on (Éire Nua /Saol Nua)
